Ask Claude which clients are still waiting on a text reply, then draft the replies into an Apple Note and send each one yourself
In Agent Intelligence issue #97, Matt Spangler shows agents how to connect the Claude desktop app on a Mac to the Messages app with Anthropic's Read and Send iMessages extension (listed as version 0.1.11, an early version) and the Read and Write Apple Notes extension, with Messages in iCloud turned on so iPhone threads reach the Mac. The first prompt asks Claude to read the last 14 days of messages and list every conversation where the other person is waiting on the agent, with the person's name, what the person needs, how many days the person has waited, and a quote of the original message. The second prompt searches one client's messages for the last mention of a budget or a deadline before a call. The third prompt drafts two-to-three-sentence replies for the five people who have waited longest and saves the drafts in an Apple Note called Replies to send; the agent copies each draft into Messages and sends the reply personally. Spangler puts privacy first: the extension shares message content with Anthropic's models, clients never agreed to that sharing, so agents should check brokerage policy, skip threads with financial details or ID numbers, and switch the extension off at the end of the week. The setup takes about 20 minutes and works only in the Mac desktop app.

Matt Spangler (Agent Intelligence) · Newsletter · Oct 30, 2026 - First step
- In the Claude desktop app on your Mac, open Settings, then Connectors, then Desktop extensions, and enable Read and Send iMessages; then turn on Messages in iCloud on your iPhone so your phone's threads reach the Mac.
Compliance note: Check your brokerage's policy before letting an AI read client texts, keep the extension off any shared Mac, skip threads with financial details or ID numbers, open each quoted message before acting because Claude can misread who owes whom, send every reply yourself, and never ask Claude to describe who lives in an area (fair housing).
Suggested prompt
Written by this directory, inspired by the source. Replace the [bracketed] parts.
Read my iMessages from the last 14 days. List every conversation where the other person is waiting on me: an unanswered question or something I promised to do. For each one give the name, what they need, how many days they've waited, and quote the message it came from. Read only. Don't send anything, and tell me when you can't tell whether I already answered. Then: For the five people who have waited longest, write a reply in my voice, two to three sentences each, ending with one easy next step. Save all five in an Apple Note called Replies to send, with each person's name above their draft. Don't send any of them.
